Tyrone Band Places Ninth at Atlantic Coast Championships

A great season for the Tyrone Golden Eagle Marching Band has come to an end as the band placed ninth at the Atlantic Coast Championship Series on Saturday, November 5th.

“I’m very truly proud of these students and how hard they worked this season. They performed the best performance of the season and didn’t just go through the motions, but played with emotion and performed an engaging show. 9th out of 26 bands is something to be proud of. The students had a great season this year and we’re looking to continue this momentum into next year.” said Band Director, David Hock.

The bands competing directly with Tyrone from group 1A from chapter 11 at ACC’s were: Conemaugh Township High School, DuBois Area High School, Juniata Valley High School, Mount Union High School, Somerset High School, Westmont Hilltop High School, Windber Area High School. A total of 28 other bands from other states in the Tournament Of Bands went up against the bands in region 11.  

The competition began with the Somerset High School Marching Band at 12:45 who placed 26th with a score of 79.00.

Tyrone received a score of 87.935 and placed ninth while Windber Area High School scored a 91.62 and placed fifth.

The Tournament Of Bands season presented a total of three bands in group 1A that achieved a score of a 92 or above to be promoted into the Tournament Of Bands Open class for the 2017-2018 fall marching band season. Pitman High School, Brick Township High School, and Weehawken High School all achieved a score of 92 or above to make it into the Open class.

The 2016-2017 Marching band season has come to an end and the Tyrone Marching band will be preparing for the 2016-2017 indoor percussion and colorguard season and the 2017-2018 marching band season.
