The 10-8 Lady Eagles girls soccer team will make their way to Bedford on Thursday, October 23rd for their first playoff game of the season against the 14-3-1 Lady Bison.

We have worked hard this week to prepare for this match and although we are low on numbers due to injuries, I feel the team can really challenge Bedford and make this a great game. If we play our game, I believe we will surprise them

— Assistant Coach Tiffany Smith

“Bedford is a skilled team, but we are coming off of three straight wins against tough teams. If we carry that momentum into the game, I think we can really surprise ourselves of what we are capable of,” said assistant girls soccer coach Tiffany Smith.

The Lady Bisons have only suffered three losses from Bishop Guilfoyle, Bishop McCort, and Somerset.

They have scored 60 goals (3.3 goals per game), while holding their opponents to 12 goals over the span of 18 games, (0.7 goals per game). The Lady Bisons are strong on defense, but quite a few teams have been able to find the back of the net.

Their leading scorer is senior Megan Ooghe, who has 24 goals, and 18 assists in her career. 12 of those goals were this season, as well as five of her 18 assists.

If the Lady Eagles can shut down Ooghe, they can shut down most of their offense.

This season the Lady Eagles have accomplished 10 wins, beating six different teams in their conference. They have soared past teams this season that they haven’t won against in seasons past.

“We have worked hard this week to prepare for this match and although we are low on numbers due to injuries, I feel the team can really challenge Bedford and make this a great game. If we play our game, I believe we will surprise them,” said Smith
