This Friday the Tyrone Golden Eagles face off against the Huntington Bearcats at War Vets Field in Huntington.

The Eagles come into this contest in very unfamiliar territory at 1-1. Tyrone is coming off of a hard loss to the Central Dragons, in which they were dominated in all facets.  But the Eagles are notorious for comeback games, and are out for blood.

The Bearcats are on a roll with a record of 2-0, and are looking for a bit of revenge from last year’s loss to the Eagles.  All signs point to an exciting contest.

Both Huntington games last year were largely one sided, with the Eagles comfortably winning both the regular season and playoff game.

This year the game is expected to be closer. The Bearcats return a lot of their starters from last season, and with some experience they are a force to be reckoned with. Huntington is currently the number one team in District 6 AA, with wins over both Bellefonte and Bald Eagle Area. The Eagles are definitely not going to overlook them.

The Bearcats offense is focused mostly on the ground game featuring running back John Wagner. Wagner is a big, fast, and physical back that is very good at wearing down the opposing defenses. However, the Bearcats will be without senior quarterback Hudson Speck who broke his leg last week. This will force the Bearcats to go with an untested backup under center.  So the key this week for the Eagles will be to stop the running game, contain the big plays, and force their freshman signal caller to do to the air.

On offense, the Eagles have a lot to fix from last week and must capitalize on their opportunities. With that, they will attempt to move the ball methodically down the field with long drives. The offensive line and skilled players have been working hard this week to come back and reestablish Tyrone’s dominance that the line of scrimmage.

This showdown has been highly anticipated and both teams are ready to go. The game is this Friday at 7:00 pm at War Vets Field in Huntingdon.
