In the last game of the regular season the Golden Eagles face off against District 9 powerhouse Chestnut Ridge. The Lions bring a record of 6-3 into this contest but they are a lot tougher than their record indicates. The Lions are tough up front and their specialty players are very stout. The Eagles will need to play their best if they want to improve to 8-2.

Last year’s game the Eagles and the Lions were very evenly matched and it was a war right down to the final whistle. In one of their best performances of the season, the Eagles topped the Lions 28-13. The key to last year’s win was the Eagles front five controlling the line of scrimmage.

The Lions run a lot veer and option in their offense. The Eagles will have to keep their rules and play a very disciplined game to stop the big plays. Not only that, they will have to watch out for the Lions quarterback as he is very athletic and can run or pass.

The Eagles will be looking to do as they normally do, establish the running game to open up the play action. The challenge that the Lions pose on the defensive side is that they play downhill and are very aggressive. To counteract their style, the Eagles line will have to communicate and make good calls up front.

If you want to see the Eagles and Lions in action, make your way down to Gray-Veterans Memorial Field this Friday for the much anticipated matchup. Also you may want to bring an umbrella as rain may be a factor in this game.
