The Marching Band season may be over but the Tyrone Band is preparing for the 2016-2017 Tournament of Indoor competition season.

This year will be the second season for the Indoor Percussion Team.

The group has high hopes for another successful season.

“We had a very successful first year last indoor season and I hope to build upon that success. We have more student participants this year which is awesome. We’re going to really work towards building their skills, play harder music and learn to be even more expressive. Hopefully we can be even better this year than last year,” said Tyrone Band Director David Hock.

The band will host two competitive shows for the upcoming season season, the 2016-2017 TIA Indoor Championships and their annual Home Show at the start of the competition season.

“It was an awesome opportunity to meet the members of the other guard and drumline groups,” said sophomore Patty Powell.

Last year, the group placed first at every regular season competition and placed second at the TIA indoor championships at Central Cambria High School. They also hosted their first ever home show with approximately 40 teams in attendance.

Tryouts will be on Wednesday November, 16th from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the High School Band Room.
