Swish! Engle sets new Tyrone single season 3 point scoring record

Engle broke a 21 year old Tyrone basketball record last night

Kasey Engle putting up her 69th three point shot of the season, to break a 21 year old Tyrone record.

Sophomore Kasey Engle broke the school record for three pointers in a season last night against the 1-15 Central Mountain Lady Wildcats.

The previous school record of 68 was set by Gendie Haverstein in the 1993-1994 season. Engle broke it with one minute left in the first period, and went on to add three more to put her current season total at 72.

I’m excited and it’s a nice accomplishment, but I’m mainly excited that we are 16-4 and playing great as a team

— Kasey Engle

“I’m excited and it’s a nice accomplishment,” said Engle, “But I’m mainly excited that we are 16-4 and playing great as a team.”

“Kasey breaking the record is a reflection of her dedication and hard work during the off-season,” said Lady Eagles head coach Luke Rhoades.

Engle ended with 24 points.  The Eagles were sharp from outside as a team, draining 10 three pointers.  Five by junior Finnley Christine, four by Engle and one from sophomore Alexis Cannistraci.  The Eagles were also tough on defense, giving up no three point goals to Central Mountain.

Christine and Engle combined scored 45 of the Lady Eagles 56 points.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action tonight on senior night with junior varsity at 6 pm and varsity tip off at 7:30 against the Bald Eagle Lady Eagles.
