As the school year begins to end, many high school students, particularly freshman and sophomores, have started applying for their very first summer jobs. In fact, a lot of students have already started working.

A very popular first-time place to work for students at Tyrone Area High School is the DelGrosso’s Amusement Park and Laguna Splash Waterpark.

So far, working there has been really good. We haven’t been incredibly busy, but I enjoy my job. The best part of my day is when I get nice customers

Freshman Jonathan Clifton is one of the students currently working at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park.  This is Clifton’s first year working at DelGrossos in food services at the midway.

“I knew some people who were working there already, including my sister,” said Clifton,”So far, working there has been really good. We haven’t been incredibly busy, but I enjoy my job. The best part of my day is when I get nice customers.”

Some students who work at the park are saving for something big like their college education or a car.  Others are just looking for some extra spending money, and some are trying to do both.

“I’m saving my money for right now, but that doesn’t mean I won’t buy stuff,” said Clifton.

Another first-time DelGrosso’s employee is freshman Cheyenne Weaver.  She works in waterpark concessions.

“When deciding where to work this summer, I wanted to work somewhere close so that I knew it would be easy for me to get work. I chose DelGrosso’s because I knew they would have many job opportunities,” said Weaver.

Weaver says the best part is that she is able to make money and save it in case she needs it for anything in the future like a car, saving up for college, etc.

“But some of [the money] I will use to buy anything that I may want because now that I have my own money I have a lot more freedom in buying things that I like,” added Weaver.

One freshman student who hasn’t started working but is excited for her first day at Murf’s Kitchen is TAHS freshman Rayne Burger.  Burger chose to apply for this position because many of her friends were applying for the park, and said that she should apply too.

“I haven’t started yet, but once summer begins, I don’t think I’ll like having to get up and get ready for work,” said Burger.

“I’m probably gonna end up spending all of the money as soon as I get it,” added Burger,”I’ll most likely use it on clothes and shoes and all that. I won’t really need to make any big purchases, but I’ll be excited to have money.”
