Student Assistance Program (SAP)

What should you do if you or someone you know is having problems at school or home due to social, emotional or mental health issues?

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is here to help.

The SAP is a voluntary intervention program designed to help students and families in need.  The SAP provides access to professional counselors and support for any student in the Tyrone Area School District.

Students can be referred to the SAP by anyone in the school community – teachers, staff, parents, or peers.  Students may also seek assistance from the SAP for themselves.

Student participation in the SAP is voluntary but parent approval is required for counseling services to be provided.  All information regarding a student’s involvement in the program is confidential and maintained in the best interest of the student.

A student may be referred to or seek assistance from the SAP program for any of the following reasons:

  • Depression or suicidal thoughts
  • Any mental health issues or concerns
  • Drug or alcohol abuse
  • Family issues
  • Drastic changes in behavior
  • Severe attendance issues
  • Severe drop in grades as a result of emotional issues

If you think that you or someone you know would benefit from the Student Assistance Program, please contact a guidance counselor or other member of the SAP team as soon as possible.  For more information click on the Student Assistance Program link above.
