Tyrone seniors Nathaniel “Pooky” Soellner and Tristan Lingafelt will play in the 10th annual Altoona Mirror Basketball Classic on Friday, March 27 at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson. The girls game begins at 6:30 pm and the boys will follow at 8:15.

The game features some of the best seniors in Blair County against those of Central Pennsylvania.

In last year’s game, Tyrone’s Brandon Gripp was awarded the Blair County MVP in a 121-107 Blair County loss.

Soellner and Lingafelt are excited to be playing together in this event.

“It’s exciting to have a teammate of mine because they know to pass me the rock,” said Soellner. “I’m really happy to be playing with Tristan in my last basketball game after playing with him all of my life.”

“Pooky’s like a legend in my eyes,” said Lingafelt, “one of the best players in Tyrone history. If I give him the ball I know that he’s going to score.”

The two combined for 513 points this season and 191 rebounds. Soellner shot 46% from the field and from three. Tristan shot 39% from the field and 38% from three.

Fellow senior Shane Geis said “I can’t wait to watch my brothers represent for us. Soellner is the best player in Blair County and I expect him to do big things in the game.”

Senior Nick Getz, a very intense fan of Pooky’s, said “Pooky is so mean that he makes medicine sick.”
