Senior Spotlight – Desiree Sparks

EE: What are your plans after high school?

Sparks: My plans are either to attend college in Colorado for equine studies or here in Pennsylvania for history. And maybe if history works out, move to Scotland to be a historian.

EE: What is your favorite high school memory?

Sparks: My favorite high school memory was my 8th grade year when my previous school performed “The Sound of Music”. I had such an awesome time singing and dancing. And the dances, my partner and I have never danced before and excelled past experienced that were in the play with us. It was exciting and extremely rewarding.

EE: Who will you miss most from high school?

Sparks: I will miss the interactions of teens of the Tyrone community. I will also miss the teachers.

EE: How do you think you have changed since freshman year?

Sparks: I have become more open and outgoing since my time as a high scholar.

EE: What are you looking forward to most after high school?

Sparks: I am looking forward to exploring the world with opportunities that it provides.

EE: Are you involved in any extra-curricular activities?

Sparks: I am a proud member of the National FFA, Concert band (president), and Marching Band (Baritone).

EE: Have you always been a Golden Eagle? If not, when did you move here?

Sparks: I moved here in the December of my 9th grade year. Though I have not always been an Eagle, I was previously an Everett Warrior.

EE: Who is your hero in life?

Sparks: My hero is my mom. She has supported my little brother and I our entire lives and has shown me how to be strong and independent.

EE: What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

Sparks: The craziest thing I have ever did was fall asleep in the auditorium during a class. I had fallen asleep and woke up 15 minutes before school was to end. EVERYONE knew within the first hour that I was asleep. The teacher wasn’t mad so I was okay. He was the one that let me sleep.

EE: What is the advice you would give to juniors for their senior year?

Sparks: My advice to Juniors is that yes, senior year is intimidating, but you do have time to figure things out. Don’t worry and stress over the insanity of being and enjoy your last year. It goes fast.
