Pretty in pink: Lady Eagles volleyball defeats Clearfield 3-0

Tyrone’s varsity and junior varsity teams beat Clearfield 3-0 on their pink game to improve to 5-6 in the league.

The win brought the Lady Eagles one step closer to the team’s first ever playoff appearance.

“We played calm, cool, and collected even when one of our starters went down with in injury the middle of game two,” said head coach Michael Kraft.

Maddie Veit had thee kills and three digs and Shaniah Lowery had five kills and four digs.

“Playing Huntingdon, the whole gym was hyped because it was our pink game,” said Lowery,  “we were determined to win. So it was funny to beat Clearfield at their pink game, their dawg pound was loud, but as we played we shut them down.”

The Lady Eagles remaining games are against P-O, Central and Bald Eagle, all teams that the Eagles lost to earlier in the season.

“All we have to do is win one more game to make playoffs, “said junior Alexis Cannistraci, “but our goal is to win the next three.”

Cannistraci led in stats with eight kills, a block, an ace, and a dig. Lea Crofcheck had 22 assists and seven aces.

Torrie Foy had four kills, four aces, and three digs.

“They beat us at our house, so we beat them in theirs,” said Foy, “we had more energy and I’m so proud of our team.”

“The girls fed off the big win from Tuesday and played with passion,” said Kraft, “they need to keep up with that as they take on these next three schools.”

The next volleyball match up with P-O will be on October 20th in the middle school gym at 7:00 pm.
