Lady Eagles take it to the Bearcats 52-27

In their second match up of the season, the Lady Eagles easily dispatched the Lady Bearcats despite some cold shooting in the first half.

Defensively Huntingdon had some initial success against the Lady Eagles playing a wide 3-2 zone, something the Lady Eagles are beginning to see more often as opponents try to control their shooters.

“We were just throwing the ball up when it got into our hands. We need to take good shots and shoot the ball when we are open,” Coach Luke Rhoades said.

Fortunately for the Eagles, their own defense was also solid, allowing the Bearcats only 8 points in the first half.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles caught fire and forced turnover after turnover while pressuring the Bearcats with a full court press. Kasey Engle forced 7 turnovers while Finnley Christine forced 5.

The scoring came late in the third as Engle, Christine, and Lehman began to get hot. Engle scored a game high 18 points, Christine added 13, while Lehman chipped in 10.

The Lady Eagles are back in action Wednesday night as they host the Clearfield Lady Bisons. Tip off is at 7:30.
