Lady Eagles soar to their tenth win over Lady Bison

The Lady Eagles extended their current winning streak to four games by defeating the Clearfield Lady Bison 5-3 on the road.

The win evened the season series with the Bison and improved the Eagles standing for the upcoming playoffs  In their previous meeting this year, the Lady Bison defeated the Lady Eagles 6-4.

Junior Audrey Bowser recorded her second hat trick of the year and Bellwood senior Marissa Panasiti added two goals and an assist.

The Lady Bison answered each time the Lady Eagles scored to make the score 3-3 at the half.

As soon as the Lady Eagles took the field for the second half, a spark was lit underneath them as they were able to score two unanswered goals to seal the victory.

Three minutes in sophomore Elina Lure played a ball over the top of the defense to Panasiti for the go-ahead goal.

After Panasiti scored, the game slowed down and both teams played intense defense to hold each team from scoring another goal.

It was in the middle of this defensive give and take that the Bison took a shot on senior keeper Madison Noll.  Noll stopped the shot and punted the ball over 50-yards to Bowser who chipped the ball over the keeper’s head to finish off the game.  Noll’s extra distance on the punt was key to the Eagle’s insurance goal.

This win gave the Lady Eagles their tenth of the season.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Monday, October 19th at 4:00 pm against the Bald Eagle Area Lady Eagles at the Harry K. Sickler Athletic Park.
