After a tough start to the season in which the Lady Eagles fell to some of the best teams in the area, the team got a big confidence boost yesterday collecting their first win of the season against the Williamsburg Lady Pirates in non-conference play.

Senior Anna Baran recorded eleven strikeouts and was 2 for 2 at the plate with a single and a triple. But Baran’s was not the only bat to come alive, as the Lady Eagles collected hits up and down the lineup. Eight of the eleven Lady Eagles to step to the plate got hits.  Junior Allison Hosko was 3 for 3 with two doubles, and junior Madi Grazier was 3 for 3.

It felt amazing to finally get our first win. We’ve been working so hard in practice and to beat a quality team feels amazing

— Madi Grazier

“It felt amazing to finally get our first win,” said Grazier, “We’ve been working so hard in practice and to beat a quality team feels amazing.”

Senior MacKenzie Eaken and sophomore Emily Hamer also doubled for the Lady Eagles.

Sophomore Grace Gensimore singled twice for the Lady Eagles.  Junior Hailey Durbin and freshman Megan Tepsic also had hits.

The Lady Eagles also had a very good game in the field. They were errorless for the first time this season.

“Our bats finally came alive,” said head coach Peter Baran, “With 15 hits, no errors and Anna striking out 11, it finally gave our team something to build off of and a boost of confidence.”

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Friday, April 8th in Clearfield to take on the Lady Bison at 4:30.
