The Lady Eagles softball team had yet another difficult week, after falling to Moshannon Valley, Bald Eagle, and Huntingdon.

Senior Anna Baran and sophomore Emily Hamer each had two hits in Tyrone’s first loss against the Lady Damsels on Saturday, May 7th in non-conference play.

“We played hard,” said Hamer.  “They are a good team, and got the hits when they needed them.”

Freshman Megan Tepsic also doubled for the Lady Eagles.

Baran was strong in the circle, but so was Moshannon Valley’s Sidney Lewis.  She struck out 13 and only gave up two walks, which sealed the deal for the Lady Damsels.

After the first loss, the Lady Eagles tried to come back, but fell short yet again.

Junior Hailey Durbin doubled, junior Allison Hosko tripled, and sophomore Grace Gensimore had two hits for the Lady Eagles.

“We were so close.  I know that we have the potential to beat so many teams, but we just need to have the confidence,” said Gensimore.

Errors in the field are what caused the game to get out of hand in the last innings and gave the Lady Damsels their second victory of the day.

Baran struck out six in Monday’s loss against the Bald Eagle Lady Eagles.

In the top of the first the Lady Eagles scored seven runs on several errors and controversial calls from the umpires.

“The game was a lot closer than the score tells.  If the umpires would have made some calls our way instead of theirs, it would have been a much different game, because the momentum would have been on our side,” said Baran.

Gensimore had the Lady Eagles only hit.

Junior Madi Grazier collected the Lady Eagles only hit on Tuesday against the Lady Bearcats.

Baran was strong in the circle, throwing a complete game, striking out 4, walking none, and only allowing 5 hits.

“Catherine is a strong pitcher,” said Grazier.  “We had a difficult time hitting her, but when we did make contact it went straight to the other players for easy outs.  We have the potential to beat teams, and we just need to find the confidence to do so.”

The Lady Eagles will be back in action tonight, May 12th, against the Penns Valley Lady Rams at 4:30 at home.
