Lady Eagles drop 3-0 pitchers duel to PV

Junior Finnely Christine

In a pitching battle the Lady Eagles fell to the Lady Rams 3-0 on Monday.

Junior Anna Baran held the Lady Rams to three hits and struck out five in a complete game.  She also recorded several put-outs for her team.  Despite the Lady Eagles not being able to score, freshman Grace Gensimore had two of the Lady Eagles three hits.

“My teammates had an amazing game on Monday,” said Baran, “I couldn’t have made any of those outs without them. Also, without Finnley behind the plate I wouldn’t have gotten half of the strikes I did.”

We need to hit and score runs to put a complete game together, and I know that it will happen soon

Penns Valley’s pitcher was also very effective holding the Lady Eagles to three hits and nine strike outs.

In the top of the first, the Lady Rams were able to get on base and create a run to make the score 1-0.  The Lady Eagles weren’t able to answer back and in the top of the 7th the Lady Rams were able to put up two more runs to seal the deal.

“We played a great game defensively,” said head coach Peter Baran, “But we just didn’t get any key hits. Anna pitched a great game and Grace had two great hits. We need to hit and score runs to put a complete game together, and I know that it will happen soon.”

The Lady Eagles will be back in action again  Thursday, April 16th at home vs. the Philipsburg Lady Mounties at 4:30pm.
