Lady Eagles beat BEA; clinch share of league title

Sydney Shaw leads Eagles over Bald Eagle by scoring 18 points.

Lehman puts up a contested layup.

On Monday night, the Lady Eagles beat Bald Eagle Area 59-41 and sealed their third straight league title while sharing it with Penn’s Valley. The Lady Eagles and Penns Valley both finished 13-1 in the league, splitting the season series.

The Lady Eagles had no trouble beating Bald Eagle, but Coach Rhoades was not impressed with his team after their last regular season win.

“We didn’t rebound the ball well. We are going to need to work on that if we want to be successful in the playoffs,” coach Luke Rhoades added.

The Lady Eagles were not finishing easy baskets and shot just 50% from the free throw line. However, freshman Sydney Shaw scored a career-high 18 points, while Kasey Engle added 17, and Cannistraci scored 13.

The Lady Eagles finished the regular season 20-2, losing two close games to Bellwood-Antis and Penns Valley. Tyrone earned the second seed in the D6 AA playoffs and will face the winner of Cambria Heights vs. Marion Center on February 18th.
