As an artist, Vika Walk has an eye for creativity. Whether it be using paint, graphite or watercolors, Walk knows how turn a plain piece of paper into a work of art.

In her final year at Tyrone High School, this senior has surely made a lasting impact with her artistic abilities in Room 147.

According to art teacher Eric Feather, Vika’s artistic style is a combination of various elements.

“I characterize Vika’s style as having expressive use of color, shape, and application of media that has an immediate impact on the viewer’s eye and draws them into the artwork,” said Feather.

Some of Vika’s inspirations include Mr. Feather, Lena Walk, and her peer’s creations. Many of her fellow classmates feel the same.

“Vika’s work inspires me to do better work,” said senior Makayla Ritchey.

Walk’s favorite medium is painting because of the variations of colors and amount of creativity it allows. Many of her award winning pieces are made using acrylic paint. Walk’s personal favorite piece that she has produced is her drawing, “The Little Orphan Girl”.

“I don’t use colored pencil as a medium very often, but I did with this one,” said Walk.

In last years art show, Walk won the 11th grade “People’s Choice Award” for her painting “Morning Light”. Walk has also helped out with many school projects. She personally designed the background for a last year’s school musical, “A Night On Broadway”.

Walk hopes to continue to strengthen her artistic abilities in the future no matter what career path she chooses.
