Each marking period, two students from each grade are chosen by TAHS staff as Renaissance Stars. To become a Renaissance Star, you have to show star like qualities, whether it be through grades or acts of kindness.

Seniors

“Erika and Kendra have both done a fantastic job of providing photo coverage of all of the Tyrone football games for the Eagle Eye. They have gone to all the away games to provide our readers with many professional quality shots. The Eagle Eye would not be successful without the dedication of students like Erika and Kendra who are willing to give of their time and talent outside of school to cover events for the school newspaper.”

Kendra Wertz: It’s an amazing feeling that I got acknowledged for my hard work.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

KW: The teachers- they are helpful, thoughtful and go out of their way to help students.

KW: English

Eagle Eye: What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

Erika Voyzey: It is quite an honor to be a Renaissance Star. Personally, I’d like to give a shout out to my number one supporter, my favorite dog Camille. She always believed I could do this. Thank you.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

EV: My favorite things about Tyrone are the extracurricular activities, especially Track & Field.

EE: What’s your best subject in school?

EV: My best subjects in school are science and math.

 

Juniors

Riean Minnich

Mr. McNitt, Mrs. Redinger, and Mr. Tanner’s quote:

“Riean is an amazing student, always upbeat and supportive of others. During the 2nd annual Golden Eagle Halloween event she worked tirelessly with our hundreds of visiting children and their families. She was always inviting, happy and encouraging with our visitors that night. Riean is keen on details, completeness, and understanding of her work before doing it. She asks questions in class “why” more than “how” and then solves the “how” herself.”

Madison Grazier

“Madison always come to class with a smile and warm spirit. She participates in class and is always there to help her peers. She is such a hard worker and has been doing an outstanding job on tests and quizzes. I am really proud of her effort day in and day out in my class.”

Eagle Eye: What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

Madison Grazier: It makes me proud that I work hard enough to stand out to a teacher.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

MG: Living in a small town.

EE: What is your best subject in school?

MG: Chemistry

Mckenzie Johnson

Mrs. Taylor’s quote:

“McKenzie is a VERY pleasant young lady. She has a great sense of humor and gets along with all students in class. She has great attendance. Ms. Johnson ALWAYS has a positive attitude and smile on her face. Her work is always neat, complete, and turned in on time. She has excellent people skills. McKenzie really shined at the Golden Eagle Trick or Treat event when she talked to all of the trick or treaters and inspired them to get involved and investigate the “Wonderful World of Wonder” boxes that had body parts the kids were to identify. She truly has a knack for people and health care. You rock, McKenzie!”

Eagle Eye: What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

Mckenzie Johnson: It was really exciting to hear my name on the announcements for this marking periods Renaissance Star.  It was a great feeling.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

MJ: I think that the best part about Tyrone is the support we give one another, such as encouraging each other to do better and continue to succeed whether it be in sports or academics.

EE: What’s your best subject in school?

MJ: In my core subjects, I do best in English and biology.

 

Jada Turiano

When looking for the qualities of a model student, the list is comprehensive – be focused, cooperate with others, conscientious, eager for a challenge and intrinsically motivated. All of these qualities are demonstrated on a daily basis by Jada in her biology class. Not only is she doing advanced work, but she also seeks out struggling students so they can be successful as well. Keep up the great work Jada!
