The Tyrone varsity baseball team beat Penns Valley 8-2 as a result of a big six run sixth inning on Monday, April 14.

The game was tied 2-2 after five, but the Eagles broke it open in the top of the sixth inning when Coy Focht, Matt Brenneman, Joe Steinbugl, Jordan Miller, Jake Dorminy and Tristan Lingafelt all scored.

The Eagles pitching shut down Penns Valley the rest of the way, leading to the 8-2 win.

Senior starting pitcher Jake Dorminy got the win for the Eagles with junior Nathaniel Soellner coming in relief to finish the game.

Tristan Lingafelt also had two RBIs.

The first inning started off in Penns Valleys favor as they got two quick outs. Tyrone then got a hit but left a man stranded in the top of the first.

Penns Valley then scored in the bottom of the 3rd to lead the game 1-0.

In the top of the 4th, the Eagles scored to tie the game 1-1.

The teams then traded runs in the 4th to make it 2-2 before the Eagles big 6th inning that sealed the win.
