On the strength of pins by senior Lance Loose and sophomores Derrick Harris and Jamal Hicks, and the help of several forfeits, the Tyrone wrestling team earned their second win of the season 42-27, at Blairsville on Thursday, January 7th

At 138 sophomore Derrick Harris pinned Blairsville’s Dakota Koches in 0:40 seconds.

At 152 senior Lance Loose pinned Tray Lenhardt at 1:22.

“I was nervous but I was so pumped up,” said Loose, “I was focused and did what I had to do to win.”

With two reversals and a near fall of three sophomore Jamal Hicks won his match at 3:54 against Colin Weinell.

“It took me a little to get warmed up because I thought I had a forfeit. Now I need to know, never expect to not have a match because things will change,” said Hicks.

Juniors Mike Cherry, Devon Brown, Steve Coyler and senior Aaron Lewis won by forfeit.

Junior Sage Dixon lost his match 3-0 against Noah Sleasman.

At 170 senior Phoenix Farias took the fall at 5:37.

“I could have done a lot better,” said Farias, “I needed to wrestle harder and not let outside talk influence how I wrestle.”

Erick Ixtepan lost his match with a fall but had two takedowns and four reversals.

At 195 senior Richard Reader took the fall at 2:40 and at 285 sophomore Duane Hann took the fall at 1:55.
