Girls volleyball falls to Penns Valley

The Lady Eagles volleyball team fell to a devastating lost to Penns Valley last night with back to back sets of 25-18 Tyrone, 15-25 PV, 25-13 Tyrone , 17-25 PV and the fifth set of 13-15 PV.

“We played very well sets 1 and 3 with a winning attitude and didn’t let Penns Valley into the games,” said head coach Michael Kraft. “sets 2 and 4 we missed serves out of the gate which gave Penns Valley energy and momemtum.”

Shaniah Lowery had 16 kills to carry the team last night. Followed by Alexis Cannistraci with 13 kills and 5 blocks.

“I usually don’t hit on the outside,” said Lowery, “I’m usually a middle or 32 hitter, so it was different for me but it worked well. I was able to hit places I know they weren’t covering. And for serving, I usually don’t do, but I served well last night and I was surprised by that.”

Carly Crofcheck  had 24 assists and Anslee Walk had 17 digs.

“We had a new line up where I set when I was front row and Lea set when she was back row,” said Crofcheck, “It ended up working out better then we pictured. Kraft is different from most coaches, he knows what he’s doing and why he’s doing it without question.”.

“There’s no reason we should have lost, said Walk, “Penns Valley just wanted the win more then us. During the 5th set we really pushed ourselves.”

“Winning comes from within and from a passionate desire to want it more than your opponent,” said Kraft, “I see it at times in the girls, but we are still in search of the true passion of winning.”
