Eagles Soar Over Mounties in Mt. League Matchup

Last Thursday the Tyrone boys baseball team defended their turf well against the visiting Philipsburg Mounties. Pitcher Matt Brenneman had one of the best performances of the year so far.

Tyrone started off hot scoring two runs in the first two innings.

Pitcher Matt Brenneman only walked two batters in the game and forced multiple PO batters to fly out.

Tyrone had 10 hits in the game, but only scored 4 runs.

Gary Weaver, Drew Hunter, Anthony Politza, and Brett Robison all pitched in to help score the men on base.

While Tyrone played well and Philipsburg floundered, PO was bound to bounce back as they are the top team in the Mountain League.

In the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning PO scored one run each to counter Tyrone’s offense.

Despite giving up a home run to Po’s J. Belinda, Brenneman focused to finish the 7 innings.

Tyrone scored two runs themselves in the fourth inning to build a lead and closed out the win in the top of the 7th inning.

Brenneman receives the win for the game as he pitched 7 innings.
