Eagles Drop Close Game to Huntingdon 6-3

On a weary day last week when hits were limited and the skies a little cloudy, Tyrone played its fifth game of the season.

Despite a lackluster hitting performance, Tyrone played a solid game. Junior Alex Weaver only gave up three hits on the game but allowed five runs to score in the first three innings.

Tyrone jumped back in the third inning to score three runs and close the gap between the two teams. Brett Robison, Brian Gunter, and Coy Focht would score runs to cut the lead to one run at 4-3.

The momentum was in Tyrone’s favor as the Eagles defense only allowed one more run in the remaining three innings. However, the Tyrone offense needed an adrenaline shot.

Brian Gunter would try to jumpstart the stagnant bats with a clutch bunt for a base hit in the seventh inning. Then, Gary Weaver would advance to base on balls with no outs.

Zack Soellner stepped to the plate looking to advance the runners but was unable and Anthony Politza would hit into a double play to end the Eagles last at bat.

Yet again another game that slipped out of Tyrone’s hands due to low volume hitting. Tyrone plays Bellefonte and Bald Eagle next week looking to string together a series of wins and momentum.
