The Pennsylvania State Police lost one of their youngest troopers, Landon Weaver, in a tragic shooting on December 30, 2016.

Trooper Weaver was a 23 year old newlywed who had served on with the Pennsylvania State Police for less than a year when he was killed in the line of duty while responding to a protection from abuse call.

Weaver grew up in the area, graduating from Central High School.  He was serving with the Huntingdon State Police at the time of his death.

In the days since this tragedy the outpouring of support for Weaver’s family and friends is unbelievable.

Even among my friends in high school, who aren’t usually aware of issues in our communities, we are shocked and saddened by this terrible tragedy. I have seen many posts on Facebook and other social media appreciating what the local police officers do and what they sacrifice for our communities.

But as terrible as the death of Trooper Weaver is, incidents like this shows how our communities can come together.

There are several Go Fund Me pages and accounts for donations to be deposited for the family and his widow Macy Weaver. There were also several speeches from the other officers at the State Police Barracks in Huntington.

I think it’s a great thing to see how many people are showing their support to take care of his family.

The memorial videos and posts on the social media have thousands of shares, likes, and condolence comments.

If you would like to donate to help Weaver’s family with a donation, on their official Facebook Page, the PA State Police recommend sending donations directly to the following address:
