Athlete of the Week: Carrie Vance

Each week the Eagle Eye sports department chooses an Athlete of the Week from nominations made by the varsity head coaches.

Accomplishment:

Carrie scored her 50th goal of her high school career at Philipsburg on September 2. 

Carrie also recently  had a hat trick and scored 4 goals in a game vs. Tussey Mountain.

“Carrie has been a very skilled player since her freshman year, but over the last several years she has worked hard to develop her 1 on 1 play. She has come a long way and deserves recognition for this achievement. I am very proud of her accomplishment and all the work she has put into it”

1.     How did you first get involved in this sport?

“I started playing soccer in AYSO when I was 8 years old.”

2.    What other sport(s) do you play?

“I don’t play any other sports.”

3.    Favorite professional sports team?

“US Women’s National Soccer Team”

4.    Favorite professional athlete?

“Alex Morgan”

5.    Who is your hero? Why?

“My mom is my hero because she shows me what hard work looks like every day. And she always supports me in everything I do.”

6.    Favorite band/musician?

“Maroon 5”

7.    Favorite movie?

“Ocean’s 13”

8.    Favorite food?

“My grandma’s meatloaf”

9.    What advice would you give younger athletes?

“My advice is always believe in yourself and the team. As long as you work together anything is possible. Always keep your head held high.” 

10.  What are your future goals?

“I plan to attend college and play soccer on a college team. I am currently undecided where that will be.”
