Attractions include Sylvia Fletcher’s Magic Trunk Ventriloquist Act, the Wild World of Animals petting zoo, a magician, two chainsaw carvers, a hay maze, an antique car show (Sunday only) and, of course, the plethora of food and craft vendors, as well as the Civil War Reenactment.

As fall begins creeping around the corner many people begin looking forward to festivals such as these, and Tyrone staff and students are no exception.

“[Harvestfest] is fun because I get to spend time with my family in a positive atmosphere and the food is always so good,” said senior Jordyn Greene.

Many other students agree with Greene when it comes to the food.  Senior Micheala Deihl loves the deep fried oreos and sophomore Caitlin McCaulley enjoys the many varieties of fudge available at the festival.

Food isn’t the only attraction drawing Tyrone students to Harvestfest.  Freshman Derrick Wilson is looking forward to the return of the Civil War reenactment  “I love learning more about [the Civil War] and being able to see it as if I were really there,” said Wilson.

Tyrone high school world geography and economics teacher Cummins McNitt is excited for Harvestfest because his J-AC Economic classes will be selling their products at the event.

Junior Ryan Stringer is anticipating the festival because of his appreciation for all of the crafts for sale, especially candles.

“Harvest time celebrates the traditional gathering of a community, and its a nice way to wrap up the park season,” said DelGrosso’s Park Manager Carl Crider Jr.

Crider explained that estimated attendance for the event is usually around 20,000 guests for the two day period, which will generate a lot of business, not only for the park, but also for the crafters and local organizations that participate in the event.
