American Sniper stirs up controversy on and off social media.

The film American Sniper was directed by Clint Eastwood, stars Bradley Cooper, and is a representation of an American hero who fought four tours in Iraq.  It has been nominated for six Academy Awards, but it has also caused a lot of controversy over the subject matter of the film.

In my opinion, American Sniper deserves the over 200 million in the box office along with all the praise it has received. I think that everyone should at least give it a chance and respect the legacy of “The Legend” Chris Kyle.

However, the film has amassed quite a stir of discussion among filmgoers who have seen the film since its January 16th release.

Actor and comedian Seth Rogen commented on the film saying “American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that’s showing in the third act of Inglorious Bastards.”

Rogen was referencing to the fake film showing in the background in the Tarantino film called “A Nation’s Pride.” The film shows a nazi sniper shooting down countless Americans from a bell tower.

Creator of the documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 Michael Moore took to twitter in his usual “aim to offend” fashion.  “My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren’t heroes. and invaders r worse.” Moore tweeted in broken English.

Moore caused quite a upstir with his tweet and had received tons of negative feedback from U.S ex military or currently serving military personnel.

My opinion on the matter would be that Chris Kyle was an American hero.

Kyle stated in many interviews that he didn’t romanticize war or its’ spoils. Kyle only cared about getting his job done and protecting his fellow soldiers and that was what he was there to do, that is also what he did, totalling over 160 confirmed kills Kyle placed his benchmark on US Military history as “The Legend.”

Kyle was unfortunately killed in 2013 by a Marine named Eddie Routh, whom Kyle was helping to recover from PTSD.

Some of the media is calling Kyle out as a racist but if you were to go by those rules then every soldier who fought in the Iraq war is a racist. I believe that every man who died over there died for more than just their country and kept Americans safe on the home front.

American Sniper isa great film because it shows what war can do to a person in battle or sitting on their couch at home.

Recovering from PTSD, or actually battling 30+ Iraqi soldiers the movie was intense and kept viewers on their feet.

Hopefully Kyles widow Taya Kyle can have closure with all the controversy that the film has created. You can donate to Taya Kyles foundation that she has created called the Chris Kyle frog foundation here http://www.chriskylefrog.com/.
